WHO WE ARE

Anchor is a language-learning application developed as a university project in Switzerland. Our website introduces the application, which helps intermediate and advanced learners develop vocabulary through authentic content and contextual learning.

The website is operated by Anchor App, based in Zurich, Switzerland.

PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT

We collect personal information when you voluntarily interact with our website.

Beta waitlist: When you join the Anchor waitlist, we collect your email address to register your interest in the application and communicate information about beta access.

Contact form: When you contact us through our website, we collect the information you provide, such as your first name, email address and message, as well as any additional information you choose to submit.

Technical information: Our website is built using Wix. The hosting platform may process technical information necessary for delivering and operating the website, including IP addresses and browser-related information. Further details depend on the services and settings enabled on our website.

We aim to collect only the information necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We process personal data for the following purposes:

To maintain our beta waitlist and communicate relevant updates or invitations.

To respond to questions or requests submitted through our contact form.

To operate, maintain and protect the website.

To understand website performance where appropriate analytics tools have been enabled.

We do not treat joining the beta waitlist as automatic consent to receive unrelated promotional newsletters. If we introduce a separate newsletter, we will provide a dedicated subscription option and a way to unsubscribe.

Our processing is subject to the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) may also apply where its territorial requirements are met.

DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION

Beta waitlist sign-ups are collected through Google Forms, a service provided by Google. Messages sent through our Contact Form are collected and stored through Wix.

Access to submitted information is intended to be limited to authorised members of the Anchor project team.

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or as required by applicable law.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS

We use the following service providers, which process personal data on our behalf:

 

- Wix.com Ltd. - website hosting and the contact form
- Google (Google Forms) - beta waitlist registrations

- Usercentrics - cookie consent management

We disclose personal data to service providers only for legitimate and specified purposes and subject to applicable data protection requirements.

Our website uses a cookie consent banner (Usercentrics). Strictly necessary cookies are used for the website to function.
